Sara's Memories is the first part of the Heroes' Trail series, taking players on a journey through time to witness the tragic origins of Sara Irene, one of the 12 Valkyries. This story-driven instance features emotional cutscenes, combat against Payon soldiers, and reveals the dark past that shaped one of Ragnarok's most iconic characters.

Overview

Through a dimensional rift in the Dimensional Gap, players travel back in time to ancient Payon and witness the events that led to Sara Irene's transformation. What begins as an innocent meeting with a young girl and her father quickly spirals into tragedy, conspiracy, and bloodshed.

The instance is relatively straightforward combat-wise but rich in narrative content, making it perfect for players who enjoy story-driven experiences. The emotional weight of the storyline and the connection to larger Ragnarok lore make this a memorable experience.

How to Access

Finding Adventurer Leon

Travel to the Dimensional Gap (dali).
Find Adventurer Leon at coordinates (130, 107).
Speak to Leon and listen to his story about the dimensional rifts.
He'll ask you to investigate the rift that shows glimpses of old Payon.
Accept his request to receive the quest.

Entering the Instance

Form a party (required).
As party leader, speak to the Dimensional Device at (dali 139, 118).
Select "Boot up the dimensional device" to create the instance.
Once created, select "Use the dimensional device" to enter.

Instance Walkthrough

Stage 1: Meeting Sara

Upon entering, you appear in ancient Payon (1@sara 260, 156).
Speak to A Girl - she introduces herself as Sara Irene.
Sara explains her father is the Doyen (village chief) of Payon.
Her father Doyen Irene arrives and greets Sara warmly.
Sara gives her father flowers she picked.
The family scene is interrupted as they head to a nearby hill.

Stage 2: The Conspiracy

After Sara and her father leave, you overhear two old men plotting:

"I can feel Sara's power growing. We cannot just stand by and let her achieve her full potential!"

"She was born under a bad sign and her mother isn't even one of us! Someday she will cause blood to flow in our streets."

— Mysterious Old Man

The elders have hired someone to "take care of" Sara. You must find her!

Stage 3: The Murder

Use the warp to follow Sara to her home.
Find Sara at (1@sara 107, 325) with her mother.
A horrific scene unfolds - Sara's mother lies dying on the floor.
Doyen Irene stands over her body with a bloody sword.
Sara is devastated - her mother's final words are "Run... away..."
A gem (later significant in Valkyrie lore) rolls to Sara's feet.
The Doyen calls for guards, accusing YOU of the murder!
Select "Escape with Sara" to flee.

⚠️ Warning: The story suggests the Doyen killed his wife, but the truth may be more complex...

Stage 4: The Chase

Payon Soldiers pursue you through the village. You must defeat waves of soldiers while following Sara's path.

Wave Progression:

First wave: ~50 Payon Soldiers
Second wave: ~45 Payon Soldiers
Third wave: ~43 Payon Soldiers

Follow the map markers to track Sara's location as she flees.

Stage 5: Final Confrontation

After clearing all soldier waves, reach the final area.
Doyen Irene confronts you directly.
Defeat the remaining 8 Payon Soldiers guarding him.
Finally, defeat Doyen Irene himself.

Stage 6: Aftermath

After defeating Doyen Irene, a haunting scene plays:

"Doyen Irene has fallen."

The remaining dialogue reveals more about the tragedy and Sara's fate. An exit portal appears to return you to the Dimensional Gap.
